How long does a standing-seam roof installation take?
Roughly 1.5 to 2x as long as asphalt for the same square footage. A typical 30-square Madison County home that asphalts in two to three days takes four to six days in standing-seam. The difference is mostly panel fabrication time on-site (we roll each panel to the exact eave-to-ridge length using a portable mill) and the slower fastening process.
Trill schedules metal installs with a longer weather window for that reason. We won’t start panel rolling unless the forecast shows three to five clear days. The roll-forming equipment and the bare deck can both tolerate light rain, but the panels themselves should go down dry to avoid trapping moisture under the concealed clip system. If weather pushes the start date out, that’s why.
