Installation Details · FAQ
Is a winter-installed roof lower quality than a summer one?
If installed correctly with the right cold-weather adaptations, no. If installed without those adaptations, yes. The difference is in three details: hand-sealing the shingle tabs, using cold-weather-rated underlayment (which stays flexible below freezing), and confirming nail penetration depth with the air gun calibrated for the colder conditions.
Trill does all three on every cold-weather install. The crew also moves shingles into the heated truck overnight so they’re warm and pliable when they hit the roof in the morning. A hand-sealed cold install performs exactly the same as a thermal-sealed warm install over 25+ years. The only difference is that the first warm spring day, the previously hand-sealed shingles also thermal-seal, creating a doubly-secure bond. So winter installs end up slightly more redundant, not less reliable.
