Soft wash or pressure wash for cleaning a roof?

Soft wash, always — pressure washing strips granules and shortens shingle life by 5 to 10 years. Trill uses a low-pressure (under 100 PSI) chemical application of sodium hypochlorite mixed with a surfactant, applied with a soft-wash pump and rinsed gently with a garden hose. The chemicals kill the algae at the cellular level; the gentle rinse washes the dead cells away without granule loss.

Cleaning service quotes that mention pressure washing should be a flag. The work looks impressive when it’s happening (shingles look brand new immediately after) but the granule loss accelerates aging substantially. Trill won’t pressure wash a residential asphalt roof regardless of the request — we’d rather lose the job than do work that shortens a customer’s roof life.
