What’s the coldest temperature Trill installs at?
40 degrees Fahrenheit is the practical cutoff for asphalt shingles, with caveats. Below 40 the asphalt sealant strip on the shingle doesn’t activate, which means the shingle relies entirely on the nails to stay in place until the next warm day allows the sealant to bond. In a typical Madison County winter we get enough mid-40s days that this isn’t a problem, but a January install with sustained sub-30 weather can leave shingles vulnerable through the rest of the cold season.
Trill installs through about February 15 most years with hand-sealing during particularly cold stretches (we apply roofing cement under each shingle tab as a substitute for the thermal seal). After mid-February we typically pause installs until the temperature window reliably opens again in mid-March. Emergency repairs we do year-round; full replacements we time around the weather.
