Installation Details · FAQ

What does the roofing permit inspection actually check?

The inspector typically visits during or right after tear-off and again at completion. The during-tear-off inspection checks the decking condition, the underlayment installation, and the flashing details before the shingles cover them. The completion inspection checks the final shingle pattern, the ridge cap, and the perimeter details.

Trill schedules around the inspector’s availability, which is why some jobs run longer than the pure work time would suggest. If the inspector finds an issue, we fix it on site before continuing — every Trill crew member knows the inspector’s punch list and what to flag during the install. We’ve never had a project fail final inspection in Madison County, but we’ve had a few catch corrections that the inspector found during the in-progress visit.
