How much decking gets replaced during a typical roof replacement?
Trill budgets two to four sheets on every job before the tear-off starts. That’s roughly 65 to 130 square feet of decking and accounts for the soft spots, nail-popped areas, and water-damaged sections we find under old shingles on a typical Illinois home.
The number climbs on homes with prior leaks (chimney, valley, skylight), homes older than 40 years, or homes with previous roof overlays where the decking never got inspected. Trill prices decking at $75 to $95 per sheet installed and confirms the count with photos before billing. We don’t replace decking unless it’s actually compromised, and we don’t leave compromised decking under your new shingles to save a hundred dollars.
