Repair & Maintenance · FAQ

What should I check on my roof every spring in Illinois?

Walk the perimeter (don’t climb up — that’s our job) and look for five things: shingles in the yard, granule accumulation in gutters or at downspout exits, dark streaks running down siding or fascia, daylight visible through the soffit, and any sagging or wavy lines in the roof plane.

Any one of those signals warrants a closer inspection. Trill offers free spring inspections in Madison County — we typically book the heaviest weeks of April for these. We climb the roof, document with photos, and send a report within 48 hours showing what we found and what (if anything) we’d recommend. About 60% of spring inspections find no action needed; 30% find minor maintenance items; 10% find something the homeowner needed to know about before the storm season ramped up.
