Insurance & Storm Damage · FAQ
What are the red flags when hiring a roofer?
Five flags warrant walking away. First, demand for full payment upfront (Trill takes 10 to 25% on signing, balance on completion). Second, no physical office address — only a PO box or no address at all. Third, refusal to pull the building permit (means they’re not licensed or don’t want documentation). Fourth, an unsolicited door-knock immediately after a storm. Fifth, dramatically lower price than every other quote you’ve gotten.
The last one trips homeowners up most often. A bid 30%+ below the others isn’t a deal; it’s a signal that the contractor is skipping something (proper underlayment, real permits, licensed labor, or insurance coverage). Trill quotes are competitive with the upper-mid range of legitimate Madison County roofers; if our quote is dramatically high or dramatically low versus another bid, ask both companies what’s actually different in the scope.
