Insurance & Storm Damage · FAQ

What if my insurance denies the claim?

You can appeal. The first step is to request the denial in writing with the specific reason cited. About half of initial denials in Illinois are based on incorrect adjuster classification (wear vs damage) or missed documentation. A formal appeal with additional photos, a contractor’s written scope, and a second-opinion inspection often reverses the denial.

Trill assists with appeals as part of the claim service. We provide a written professional opinion, additional photos if helpful, and (when needed) accompany you to a re-inspection visit. Roughly 65% of appeals we’ve supported in the last five years have resulted in either full or partial coverage. If the appeal fails, the next step is the Illinois Department of Insurance complaint process — Trill can advise on that too.
