Repair & Maintenance · FAQ

What material should fascia board be?

Three reasonable options: primed cedar (traditional, 25 to 35 year life with paint maintenance), composite (PVC trim like AZEK, 50+ year life, no maintenance, 40% cost premium), and aluminum-wrapped pine (the entry-level option, 30 to 40 year life, no paint maintenance).

Trill defaults to PVC composite on premium replacements because it never rots and matches the trim profile of the existing fascia. Aluminum-wrapped pine is the budget choice for matching existing aluminum-wrapped homes (most 1990s and 2000s Madison County homes). Cedar makes sense only on heritage homes where the woodgrain look matters or on detached structures where painted maintenance isn’t a deal-breaker. Mixing wraps and materials on a single home looks bad; choose one and apply it consistently.
