After your Trill Roofing installation is complete, we handle the manufacturer warranty registration with GAF, CertainTeed, or Owens Corning – depending on which line was installed. This is a step that gets skipped by less-organized contractors, and skipping it can void or weaken your warranty when you need it most. Here’s what we do, when we do it, and what you receive.
Why warranty registration matters
Most premium shingle warranties require registration within a specific window – typically 60 days from installation – to activate the full warranty terms. Without registration:
- The standard (limited) warranty applies, not the extended tier
- Some manufacturers reduce the labor warranty period
- Transferability to a new owner may be limited or voided
- Enhanced manufacturer warranties (such as GAF System Plus) cannot be registered later – the window is hard
The registration is a 5-minute task. The consequences of skipping it can be tens of thousands of dollars in warranty value lost.
When we register your warranty
Within 30-60 days of your installation completing:
- We verify the install passed final inspection
- We document the products installed (line, color, batch numbers)
- We submit registration through the manufacturer’s contractor portal (GAF, CertainTeed, or OC)
- You receive a confirmation email with your warranty certificate
- The manufacturer mails you a printed warranty document within 4-6 weeks
You don’t need to do anything during this process – we handle it on your behalf.
GAF warranty we register
As a GAF Certified Contractor, Trill Roofing registers the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty on qualifying installs:
- Available when the roof uses GAF shingles plus qualifying GAF accessory products (such as starter strip, ridge cap, and underlayment or leak barrier)
- Enhanced coverage on GAF materials compared with the standard shingle warranty
- Registered by Trill after installation; your certificate lists the exact terms
What we do not offer: GAF’s Silver Pledge and Golden Pledge warranties add GAF-backed workmanship coverage, but GAF only allows Certified Plus and Master Elite contractors to register them. Trill Roofing is a GAF Certified Contractor, so workmanship on a Trill roof is covered by Trill’s own workmanship warranty instead.
CertainTeed warranty tiers
CertainTeed Landmark and Pro line shingles come with CertainTeed’s standard SureStart limited warranty, and we handle the registration for you. CertainTeed’s extended warranties (SureStart Plus and the 4-Star tier) require a CertainTeed-credentialed contractor. Trill Roofing is certified by GAF only, so we do not offer them.
Owens Corning warranty
Owens Corning Duration shingles come with Owens Corning’s standard limited shingle warranty, and we handle the registration for you. Owens Corning’s enhanced system warranties (such as Preferred Protection and Platinum Protection) require an Owens Corning Preferred or Platinum contractor. Trill Roofing is certified by GAF only, so we do not offer them.
What’s in your warranty certificate
Once registered, your warranty certificate (PDF email + printed mailing) includes:
- Property address
- Installation date
- Shingle product line and color
- Warranty type (for example, GAF System Plus)
- Coverage terms (material, workmanship, tear-off, transferability)
- Claim process if you ever need to file
- Warranty registration number
File this with your home maintenance records. It’s also handy at resale – a registered warranty transferable to the new owner is a marketable feature.
If you have a warranty claim later
In the rare event of a warranty claim:
- Call Trill Roofing at (618) 304-7094 first
- We inspect the issue and determine whether it’s a material defect (manufacturer warranty), workmanship issue (our warranty), or unrelated damage (e.g., storm – separate insurance claim)
- For material defects, we file with the manufacturer on your behalf
- For workmanship, we handle the repair under our warranty
You shouldn’t have to call the manufacturer directly. We handle the entire claim coordination.
